Tumbling & Trampoline Classes

All “T&T” classes will include skill instruction on floor, trampoline, and double mini trampoline.  Each class level follows a curriculum that will teach athletes progressively to the next ability level.  These classes are designed with the following in mind: to develop a well rounded athlete using all events to progress ability, to prepare them for our competitive program if they so desire, or to offer an option for upper level skill development without the requirement to compete.

 Pre-School T&T (Ages 3-5), 55 min class:

This is an introduction to skills as well as an introduction to social interaction and class structure.  We focus on following directions and socialization while we teach body control, coordination and fundamental tumbling skills such as rolls, cartwheels, and basic jumping technique on the trampolines including straddle & turning skills and beginning seat & doggy drops.

 Beginner T&T (5-8), Jr. Beginner (4-6) 55 min class:

This class will learn the importance of a great Handstand, Cartwheel, Bridge & Round-off.  They will also learn how to connect skills into a series.  On Trampolines they will learn more advanced drops such as belly & back as well as learning how to put skills together to make a routine.  We also begin to focus on progression and how one strong skill prepares them to learn the next.

 Intermediate T&T (8-12), Jr. Intermediate (6-9) 55 min class:

Athletes will finish up technique on round-offs, master bridge kick-overs and learn front and back handsprings.  They will also begin to learn flipping skills on trampoline such as front & back flips.

 Advanced T&T (8&over) 85 min class:

Advanced students will learn how to connect back handsprings, and learn back and front flips on floor.  On trampoline they will learn how to combine jumps, drops and flips into a routine.  They will also begin to learn different kind of flips such as lay-outs and twisting flips on trampoline.

Specialty classes

Trampoline (7-12) 55 min class:

This class teaches trampoline skills only.  It is great for those who just want to learn skills and safety as well as those who enjoy trampoline in their class, and want to learn more! It is for the beginner and intermediate athlete.

Boys Tumbling (7-12) 55 min class

This class is for boys only.  Taught by a male instructor, they will learn progressive tumbling skills based on the ability of the students in it.  They will also learn coordination and agility drills that will be useful in many other sports!  All taught in a “boy specific” style.  It is for the beginner and intermediate athlete.

 Tumbling Only Classes

These classes will focus only on Floor skills.  Students may use the trampolines to aid in learning skills; however, they will not learn trampoline specific skills.  Those enrolling in these classes should meet the requirements and have a general knowledge of beginner and intermediate level floor skills.  These classes are designed for the student that is working toward cheer type activities.  These classes are replacing the back handspring, back tuck, and jet tumble classes that have been offered in the past.

 Tumbling 1 (12-18) 85 min, Jr. Tumble 1 (8-12) 55 min

Students will begin learning front & back handsprings both from a standing position and after a round-off.  Requirement: Round-off & assisted Back Handspring.

Tumbling 2 (12-18) 85 min, Jr. Tumble 2 (8-12) 55 min

In this class students will learn running series tumbling and running Round-off Back Handspring Back-Tuck.  They will finish learning standing back handsprings and begin learning standing back tucks.   Requirement: unassisted Round-off back handspring.

Tumbling 3 (8&up) 85 min

Athletes in this class will focus on back tucks, series back handsprings into flipping skills and different ways to combine skills to create unique passes.  Requirements: unassisted standing back handspring & running round-off back handspring series.

Tumbling 4 (8&up) 85 min

This class is for the elite athlete.  It is for those that have mastered the back tuck.  Instructors in this class will teach flipping variations, connecting flips & twisting skills.  Requirements: unassisted standing back tuck & running round-off back handspring back-tuck.

ALL CLASSES:

Classes labeled as “Junior” will work the same skills as the non-junior classes; they are specifically for younger athletes.  If class sizes are below the minimum, Jr & non Jr classes will be combined.
